Movie Preview: Top 3

Despite July existing solely to provide us with the best and brightest days of summer, it’s pissing it down outside. What better way to escape the miserable reality of the outdoor world than by hiding in a darkened room with dozens of strangers throwing popcorn at each other, and paying the best part of a tenner for the privilege? If that sounds like your idea of a good time, here’s the biggest and best of what you could be watching while you’re there.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 – July 15th

Wave good bye to your childhoods with the final installment of J.K. Rowling’s epic series. It features that massive escape from Gringotts on the back of a dragon, the long-awaited smooch between Ron and Hermione, and the final, murderous denouement at the Battle for Hogwarts. If you’re already depressed about getting to the age when you have to read about tax returns and loft insulation instead of dark wizards and flying cars, you can console yourself with the fact that this final HP movie comes in 3D.

Cars 2 – July 22nd

If Voldemort is just a little too frightening for your taste, Disney and Pixar are back with another winning sequel. We never saw the original Cars, so we’re not qualified to say much really, but the reviews we’ve heard are good and as far as we’re concerned you can’t go wrong with Pixar.

Captain America: The First Avenger – July 22nd

Marvel launches its latest superhero reinvention for the big screen, starring Chris Evans (not the ginger one off of Radio 2, this one) as a scrawny young soldier who agrees to being souped-up to become an experimental super-soldier to help America win the war. It’s basically Pimp My Private, which isn’t as wrong as it sounds.

ENJOY.
